Simple. The bible is a collection of metaphors designed to guide/coerce Iron Age people into being civilized.

Today, considering the bible as factual is a common, tragic error that leads many modern people to endure increasingly hysterical and confused lives as they experience the real world, which does not mesh well with the bible’s Iron Age mythical stories.

Summed up: too many people still believe in Santa Claus.

Christianity: Be good and you’ll go to heaven!

Except eventually most people understand Santa Claus is just a story.

I don’t “believe” in Julius Caesar; I understand he existed through multiple, overlapping, and non-contradictory records of his existence. Additionally, there are no claims of Caesar performing supernatural acts. He was just another man.

Perhaps Jesus did exist, but all the stories of miracles and rebirth are simply made up.

The universe is amazing enough without having to believe in a Magic Sky Daddy. Spend your time learning about atomic structures and/or the evolution of galaxies instead of kneeling in church and “worshipping”. Work to expand your understanding beyond the narrow, wrong, and dangerous doublethink of your religion, and you will be a happier person.
